First thing’s first, let’s talk about how fast this summer has swung by. Life took over and the next thing I knew, I hadn’t blogged in months. College has me back in the rhythm of things and this fall weather is looking oh, so good. Hold your horses. It’s not boot season yet, folks.
So what have I been up to lately? Don’t worry, I wasn’t just lazing around all summer long on my couch binge watching Grey’s, as tempting as that sounds. I wouldn’t be putting this baby on the backburner if it wasn’t something big. If you’ve been following me on Instagram and Snapchat (@rafafarihah), then you should know that I was spending my time as a news video intern at BuzzFeed New York. That’s right. New York City. You know, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of?
I hope the first few days of school haven’t been a total drag! I started fresh at the University of Houston after transferring this fall, and I am loving it so far. There are so many opportunities to explore and take advantage of, and so many influential people to meet. But I only have three years left, so I won’t let any opportunity go to waste. And neither should you! Turns out, everyone (okay, most people) is nervous to talk to a stranger. If you don’t make the first move, neither will they. The cell phone will help them pass by, but you should be better than that. These communication skills will help you in life, I promise (but then again, I am still young. What do I know about life?). Learn to step away from your phone, because this addiction may cost you a job if you can’t keep your hands off of it during business meetings.
Anyways, I have a new video out today! I hope you enjoy. Please give it a thumbs up, share, and subscribe!
This gives me so much nostalgia. When I was 10, I once convinced my younger friend that I could give her the haircut of a lifetime. Oh boy, was it a haircut she will never forget in her life. I hope this video makes your week more bearable!
Most of us know what Buzzfeed is. The one site and YouTube channel that has some of the coolest quizzes, listicles, and videos I have ever seen. I have to admit, they are very addicting sometimes. The moment I get on, I have to allocate an entire hour for it, because I know I won’t stop browsing. That’s what happens when videos like that are in reach
and accessible to all with a click of a button and social media. Anyways, I was browsing quizzes, and I came across a quiz about my fate in the Hunger Games. Of course, I had to take it. I took it with a friend and we filmed it together. Check it out!
I am actually thinking of applying for an internship at Buzzfeed. Let me know if you know anything about that. You can find the quiz here. Let me know what your results were in the comments of my video! Subscribe and give it a thumbs up!
Hi lovelies! New video out 🙂 Watch and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE. I cannot stress how much I need you all to share my channel link so I can increase viewers/subscribers for the hard work I put into these videos. This would be the best birthday gift ever to me.
Buzzfeed recently posted this video about a Japanese Cube Test that assesses your character and personality. This “game” of self-awareness is based on the concept of kokology, the study of kokoro, or “mind” in Japanese. It is usually played by two people, one who narrates hypothetical and psychological questions, while the other answers. The narrator will ask the other player to imagine and describe up to five objects. Based on these responses, they will interpret and reveal the player’s hidden thoughts on various aspects of life.
Take the test and let me know your results in the comments below! I would love to get to know your different personalities. My results are below the video. Make sure not to peep until you finish taking the test! Wouldn’t want to spoil it for yourself.
My Results: I will just put down what I imagined, rather than the analysis. That way, if you accidentally read this before taking the test, you won’t ruin it for yourself as much.
My cube was a little bit bigger than a Rubik’s cube , it was made of glass and it was five feet above the ground and perfectly in reach. My ladder was roughly 50 ft from the cube, but still clearly visible. It was made of wood and slanted opposite to the cube. The brown and unadorned horse was in a field full of yellow tulips (no clue why, since tulips don’t thrive in deserts) 15 feet from the ladder (which was far from the cube). The horse was neighing and kicking, ready for me to jump on and venture off. The storm was miles away but I was not afraid. I was happy that we will get showers of rain in the desert.
Dallas-area mom,Candace Payne, just wanted to show her few hundred Facebook friends her new toy. She went into Kohl’s last Thursday, looking for a pair of yoga pants, but somehow reached the toy section and found the adorable growling Chewbacca mask she ended up buying. Unable to contain her enthusiasm, Payne decided to video herself unpacking the toy in her car and broke the internet with her hysterically animated laugh. Her Facebook video went viral overnight, gaining more than 100 million views and hundreds of thousands of new Facebook followers. Payne even broke the record of Buzzfeed’s watermelon video! Currently, the video has more than a shocking 2 billion views. Catch her on Good Morning America as she tells her story and wins several other Star Wars toys. Stay happy and find joy in the little things. They add up, I promise.
