Cool for the Summer

Fashion

It’s summer in Atlanta, but somehow I always manage to get cold during the evenings. What better way to complement your look than with a chic varsity jacket and a pair of white sneaks? My go-to statement pieces are always longline bomber or varsity jackets with a pop of color, which is why I’m obsessed with the red and blue accents on the sleeves and collar. Even better, this jacket is on sale at Forever 21!

For my bottoms, I decided to go for softer olive green jeans, and matched them with an aloe green crinkle scarf. But you could just as easily pair the jacket with adidas joggers and a navy blue satin baseball hat.

My favorite things about this varsity jacket are the longline fit and the pop of color.

White converse were the perfect choice, since they matched the sleeves and collar.

These are by far, my favorite pair of jeans. The suede finish makes them extra comfy and soft.

The jacket is warm enough, but the inner polyester lining keeps it super lightweight.

The only scarves I will ever wear are my favorite viscose crinkle scarves that keep me cool and aired out during the scorching hot Houston summers.

A Friday in Fall OOTD

Fashion

This week has been hectic. With a divisive election, nationwide protests, riots, and hatred pervading our communities, things aren’t looking too good. We must stand strong and hope for the best for our nation, because there isn’t much we can do beyond that. This is a democracy; rule of the people, by the people, for the people. If it weren’t for our whispers that meld into roars, America wouldn’t be as established and prosperous as it is today. Don’t ever feel like your voice doesn’t matter. Trust me, it does.

Today’s look is dominated by blue hues, but the photo’s vintage edits give it a somber, warm tone. The photographer was my good friend Laraib Hashmi.
